Getting the most out of Image → Video

As with all AI-powered features, results can vary. Here are a few tips to get more reliable and useful outputs:

Start with clear imagery

High-quality images with a clear subject tend to produce better results. Busy or ambiguous visuals may lead to less predictable motion.

Optimize for short, expressive clips

Image → Video is built to add expressive, eye-catching motion to your images. It works best when it creates short videos that highlight key details and create a natural sense of movement.

Write your own prompt

We’ll generate a personalized prompt based on your image to help you get started instantly. From there, you’re free to tweak it, refine it, or write your own from scratch to better match your creative vision.

Frequently asked questions

What are the image requirements for converting an image to a video?

Your image needs to be at least 300 × 300 pixels, it must not contain any transparency, and its aspect ratio must fall between 1:2.5 and 2.5:1. Images that don’t meet these criteria won’t show the Image → Video option.

We accept JPEG, PNG and WebP formats.

How do I write effective prompts?

Using simple language and realistic actions helps ensure strong Image → Video results. When writing your prompt, be as descriptive as possible and clearly define the subject, the subject’s movement, any camera movement, and the background and its motion.

For best results, your prompt should describe what happens after the moment shown in your image. The first frame of the generated video will always be the image you upload. Image → Video will not redraw or reinterpret the original image, so ensure you are uploading an image that represents the true starting point of the motion you’d like to create.

Can I change the duration of generated videos?

Image → Video currently generates 5-second animations by default. We aim to offer more options and customizability in the future.

Will I always get the same result?

Each generation varies the result you get, although you may notice some fundamental similarities depending on the image used.

Does Image → Video work on existing videos?

No, Image → Video only works with your static images supported by Jitter, such as PNG or JPEG files.

Are there limits to usage?

Usage credits offered for Image → Video are shared with our AI Brainstorm feature. For now, we offer 3 usage tiers based on your pricing plan:

  • Free: Limited AI usage

  • Pro: Increased AI usage

  • Team: Maximum AI usage

Do note that video generation is considerably more expensive than performing a brainstorm, and you may hit your AI credit limits quicker if you’re using it often.

Can I perform multiple video generations?

Only one video generation can be running at a time.

Are you using my images to train your model?

We do not use your work or designs to train our AI model.
